KABUL (SW): Alexander Mantytskiy, Russian Ambassador to Afghanistan, has said that the remarks made by Zamir Kabulov, Russian special envoy, regarding collaborating with the Taliban, have been misinterpreted and what has been reflected in the media is not what he meant.
Zamir Kabulov, in an interview with a foreign news agency, said last week that Russia and Taliban have common goals in fighting Daesh therefore to find a solution for the conflict between Afghanistan and Taliban there would be a need for a political solution.
Kabulov said that Moscow has common interests with the Taliban in the fight against Daesh. Refraining to give further details, he said that Moscow in collaboration with Taliban, have established a communication network to exchange information.
Media here in Afghanistan quoting Zamir Kabulov reported that Russai has been in contact with the Taliban which gave cause for concern in Wolesi Jirga as some members called the remarks as an obvious interference in Afghanistan’s affairs.
The Sunday Times reported on Sundaythat Vladimir Putin, Russian President and Mullah Mohammad Akhtar Mansoor, Taliban Leader, have had meeting in Tajikistan where they have discussed how to jointly fight Daesh.
A statement released by Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Russian Ambassador has said that his country would support an independent and free Afghanistan where there is no space for terrorist groups like Daesh.
