KABUL (SW): Recently, Izovesta, one of the leading Russian newspapers, has quoted Russian officials saying that considering the current situation in Afghanistan, former President Hamid Karzai is the man the country need to resolve the crisis.
Political affairs’ experts in Afghanistan have condemned this interference in the Afghan affairs. Analysts said that such remarks by the Russian officials are clear example of interference in Afghanistan’s internal affairs. Akbar Jan Polad, a political analyst, told Salam Watandar that interference in Afghanistan’s internal affairs is against the Constitution, and any country which interferes shall be considered as an enemy.
He added that countries in the region have constantly tried to undermine Afghanistan’s national interests, and that the recent remarks by the Russian officials is just another example.
Latif Nazari, another political analyst, said that Russia views Daesh’s presence as a conspiracy by the west against it, and due to Karzai’s anti-western stance, Russia backs him. He added that in Russia’s view, Afghanistan’s cooperation with the west in the long term would create a threat to it.
Political analysts emphasized that the comments made by Russian’s officials suggest that Russia seeks to expand its policy in the region and influence US’s allies.
