Russia has pledged to provide 10K AKs: Muslimyar

28/11/2015

KABUL (SW): Fazal Hadi Muslimyar, Speaker of the Masharano Jirga (upper house) said on Sunday the Russian government has promised to provide 10, 000 Kalashnikov rifle for the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF).

He was addressing a press conference about his latest trip to Moscow on the invitation of the Russian Parliament.

Muslimyar said he appealed to the Russian authorities to provide at least two combat helicopters to the each of five Afghan National Army (ANA) corps. He said Moscow officials have vowed to address these demands.

Earlier, during the MJ session, the speaker discarded remarks made by Zahir Qadeer, Deputy Speaker of the Wolesi Jirga (WJ) about presence of Daesh leaders in Kabul.

Muslimyar said claims made by Qadeer about the National Directorate of Security (NDS) collaborating with Daesh should be thoroughly investigated. He dubbed Qadeer’s claims harmful for the national security.

Last week, Qadeer asserted that the high-ranking government officials are indirectly supporting Daesh by having regular meetings with its leadership in the capital Kabul.

The WJ deputy speaker has vowed to resist any investigations into his claims while demanding the resignation of Mohammad Hanif Atmat, the National Security Advisor.
