KABUL (SW): Hundreds of protesters in Bamiyan chanted slogans of “Death to Rula Ghani” and “We want justice”, and demanded an apology from the first lady Rula Ghani for her saying regarding the “Sadaat” tribe and demanded the inclusion of “Sadaat” on the electronic National Identity Cards (eNIC).
Protestors burnt down a picture of the wife of the president and chanted that her identity is “unknown”.
The recent interview of the first lady Rula Ghani sparked the anger of the protesters. The wife of president Ghani recently said in a television interview about the people of Sadaat that “Sadaat, I think that is one thing, is a class among several tribes. This is not a tribe by itself.”
Sayed Jawad Hussaini, leader of the Justice and Development Party, and one of the organizers of this protest said some of the leaders do not want the people of Sadaat’s identity to be included in the eNIC and have been trying to create divisions between the Sadaat people. He said that they will not stop their protests until their demand is accepted.
Sayed Hadi Toghyan, another protester said that Saadat people across the country have been demanding that their identity should be included in the eNIC for the past two years; however, the government paid no attention to it.
Protesters warned the government by reading a three article resolution that they would launch an uprising if the name of the Sadaat tribe is not included in the eNIC.
