Road accidents kill 1, injures over 100 in Herat

HERAT CITY (SW): Officials at the public hospital in western Herat province have said that road accidents during the Eid holidays have claimed one life and injured over 100 people.

According to the officials, in addition to these incidents, they have also received 40 other patients who were either beaten up or were stabbed.

Mohammad Rafiq Shirzai, an official at the main hospital, told Salam Watandar that the 143 patients, who were injured due to traffic accidents have been shifted to the local hospital across various districts in the province.

He warned that three out of 143 injured residents are in critical condition. He said that most of the victims are young men who have had accidents due to careless driving. He added that in the previous Eid days, the average number of traffic accident’s remained around 100 but on this Eid, they have registered 143 victims, which clearly suggests an increase in the number of traffic accidents in the province.

Shirzai further said that in addition to the traffic accidents during Eid days, 8 young residents have been stabbed and 31 more have been beaten up who have all been rushed to the hospital.
