KABUL (SW): As per the Ministry of Interior (MoI) figures, as many as 76 people lost lives in just one month across the country owing to traffic accidents.
Abdul Latif Khairkhwa, director traffic accident affairs at the MoI, said in this regard that a total of 136 accidents occurred in the country in the first month of year 1395 (March 21, 2016 till April 16, 2016).
He noted that the accidents on highways and inner city roads have left some hundreds of people injured.
Khairkhwa blamed faulty roads and irresponsible driving for this alarming figure of casualties.
He asserted that the MoI has devised a plan that would prove handy in curbing the mounting rate of road accidents. As per the plan, he said, those drivers under the influence of drugs would be arrested and presented to court.
Modern equipment would be used to determine if the drivers is under the influence of drugs, he said. The MoI officer went on to say that help of the security personnel would be sought to swiftly implement the plan.
