KABUL (SW): A number of Wolesi Jirga (lower house) members on Saturday expressed concerns over the activities of the pro-Daesh rebels in the north of the country.

Zakaria Sauda, a member of the house from northeastern Badakhshan claimed that as many as 400 pro-Daesh rebels have entered the province’s Jurm district. Saleh Mohammad Saleh, another member of the house from eastern Kunar province said that the Chapa Dara district in the province bordering Nooristan and Badakhshan provinces as well as Pakistan have seen growing activities of the rebels. He shared the concerns raised by Zakaria, and added that the pro-Daesh rebels aim to destabilize the whole country starting from east to north and ultimately rest of the country.

Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi, speaker of the house, urged upon the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) to take this issues seriously.

Separately, Faisal Baig, the governor of Badakhshan, has told Salam Watandar that pro-Daesh rebels are gaining foothold in the province.  He noted that a number of foreign nationals have gathered under the Daesh flag in the province. The governor mentioned that the government forces have killed Shaikh Ahmad Nisar, the Taliban’s shadow district chief for Kof-e-Aab district.

The governor remarked that the government forces have eliminated a number of rebels in a clean-up operation before Eid in the Kof-e-Aab and Raghistan districts.

Sakhi Andarabi, the police chief in Badakhshan, has stated that as many as 200 foreigners, most of whom came from Tajikistan, have settled in the province. Andarabi noted that these Tajik nationals have adopted the same tactic practiced by the pro-Daesh rebels.
