KABUL (SW) – Zalmay Khalilzad, U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation, has said the return of Taliban’s self-styled Emirate is unacceptable.
He said during a televised interview on Monday that the U.S. gives priority to the peace process, and any impediments in this regard would be opposed.
In the meantime, Abdul Shakoor Mutmain, a former Taliban-era official, said the Taliban would not accept the current system as it is. However, if the Taliban’s demands are incorporated in the constition, the Taliban might join the system.
This comes as the Taliban have repeatedly call for the re-establishment of the Emirate.
