KABUL (SW) – The Independent Election Commission announced on Saturday results for the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) elections would be announced with two weeks’ delay later this month.
Syed Hafeezullah Hashimi, IEC spokesman, said today the initial results would be announced on 23 November in provinces and on 1st December in the capital Kabul.
Meanwhile, a number of civil society groups in Kabul urged the IEC not to delay the results. They also urged the Independent Election Complaint Commission to perform its duties in line with the Constitution and share its observations with the public.
