SHEBERGHAN (SW) – A number of Jawzjan residents are settling their legal disputes in the Taliban’s kangaroo courts instead of referring to official judicial system.
Taj Mohammad Taqwa, the governor of Mardiyan district, said the Taliban are settling all legal affairs here. He added the rebels impose penalties ranging from AFN 50,000 to 80,000 on those not consulting them for legal affairs.
The district governor informed Salam Watandar all public sector employees from this district have moved to the provincial capital.
Prior to this, security officials in Jawzjan vowed to conduct clean-up operation against the rebels in the provincial capital and in districts, but the operations are yet to commence.
Separately, the Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahed, told SW that the residents of Mardiyan are referring to the Taliban’s courts on their own will.
