KUNDUZ CITY (SW): A number of residents in northern province Kunduz fearful of the militants new approach for placing bomb in the trash bins in the city, moved them away from their shops at night.
The residents do their best to keep away from the garbage bins in the city even during the day and take the garbage out further away from where they live.
This has created a new challenge for the municipality department in the province.
Officials at the municipality said that the militants place bomb in the garbage bins and that is why the residents asked to remove all the rubbish bins from the city.
According to these officials, the militants placed bomb in the trash bins twice over the past month which left 6 civilians injured.
The shopkeepers in the capital city of the province, in one hand are fearful of the garbage bins and on the other hand complained about the increasing garbage in the city.
Najibullah Omarkheyl, Kunduz Mayor, said that the shopkeepers by moving the rubbish bins from their specific places not only add to the residents’ fear but also cause the wastes to be scattered nearby roads in the city.
Reports suggest that there were more than 300 garbage bins across the city in the past months but now the number has decreased to 100.
Gen. Qasim Jangal Bagh, Kunduz Police Chief, said that defeating the enemy in the face to face fighting has forced them to take another approach which to place bombs in the rubbish bins.
Najibullah Omarkheyl, further said that overpopulation has also been part of the problems with the increasing garbage in the city.
