KUNDUZ (SW): A joint clean-up operation to clear villages of Aqtash district from Taliban was launched three days ago by the Afghan Commando forces along with Afghan National Army ‘battalion 09’, with the air support of the Foreign Forces, and ended today freeing six villages from Taliban and other armed groups.
Though, members of Kunduz provincial council said this operation has only displaced the locals, but have failed to eliminate Taliban from the area.
Meanwhile, Javed Saleem, the spokesperson for the Commando Forces told Salam Watandar that the goal of launching the clean-up operation in Ashtaq district was to hit the opposition groups and damage their bases which have been successfully done.
Aqtash is one of the newly founded districts in Kunduz province which has been under the control of Taliban for three years despite several failed operations to clear it from Taliban.
