KUNDUZ CITY (SW) – More than a hundred religious seminaries are operating in Kunduz province without a legal permit.
In conversation with Salam Watandar, officials at the directorate of Haj and religious affairs, said they have no date available on these seminaries. But, when asked how many times they have spoken to the administration of these religious schools for registration, the answer was in negative.
Meanwhile, Mawlawi Imamuddin, the head for religious studies at the directorate of Haj and religious affairs, said only around 30 religious schools are registered here.
A local civil society activist, Inayatullah Khaleq, head of the Kunduz civil society organization, claimed most of the religious schools in the province are operating without a permit just like in Pakistan.
The provincial police chief, Manzoor Stanikzai, said in this regard that most of the young students at these seminaries in the Taliban-controlled area are brainwashed against the state and government.
Kunduz remains one of the most insecure provinces in the north of the country.
