Religious leaders rise against militants in Helmand

11/11/2015

LASHKARGAH (SW): Tens of religious scholars gathered in the southern Helmand province on Thursday to condemn the terrorists, calling them enemies of the land.

The gathering acknowledged the righteous services and sacrifices of the Afghan Security Forces.

Mawlawi Meher Dil, a religious leader told the gathering that the rebels were fighting against their own countrymen on the directions of the outsiders. He said it was the religious and moral obligation to support the forces defending the nation.

The gathering vowed to mobilize all villages and towns across the province in support for the government forces against the militants. They mentioned that the Holy Quran directs Muslims to defend their government against all threats.

Mawlawi Khudai Nazar, head of the religious council in Helmand, said the religious leaders support the government forces. He urged them to ensure civilians are not harmed during the clashes with the rebels.

He stressed that no one should be allowed to play and use Islam for its own benefits and inflict damage on the Muslims. “Those who shed their blood and sacrifice defending the motherland are martyrs in God’s eye”.
