JALALABAD (SW): At least nine people got killed in a night raid by the security forces in Nangarhar province, an official confirmed on Tuesday.
Attaullah Khogyani, spokesman for the provincial governor, informed the incident took place in the Chaparhar district. He said the investigation into the incident are underway to determine the identity of the victims.
Meanwhile, locals claim relatives of Fazal Hadi Muslimyar, speaker of the Masharano Jirga (upper house) are among the victims. Ziaur Rehman Zia, secretary of Muslimyar, has confirmed the relatives of the MJ speaker are indeed among the victims.
Ghalib Mujahed, district governor, has said members of the Afghan Local Police (ALP) associated with Muslimyar are among those killed in this operation
There are reports on the social media that the local militiamen were warned by the security forces not to hinder operation against the Daesh militants, but they refused and ultimately faced action by the Special Forces leading to casualties.
