KABUL (SW) – The registration process for the Hajj pilgrimage would be digitized, officials announced on Saturday.
An agreement was signed in this connection between the Ministry of Hajj and Religious Affairs and the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology.
Speaking on the occasion, Mohammad Fahem Hashimi, minister for the MoCIT, said the agreement is aimed at ensuring transparency, efficiency and better service delivery. He urged all public departments to follow this example and digitalize their operations.
Abdul Hakeem Muneeb, minister for the MoHRA, said on his term that the current procedure of registration for the Hajj pilgrimage is complicated one. He hoped the new agreement would ensure fairness and good governance.
On average basis, some 30,000 Afghans leave for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the Hajj pilgrimage yearly. Many have been complaining against the poor delivery of services and glitches associated with the registration process.
