KABUL (SW): More than 58 historic sites are under reconstruction in all over the country, the Ministry of Information and Culture (MoIC) informed on Sunday.
The Ministry celebrated ‘World Cultural Heritage Dayi in Kabul on Sunday. The authorities said the government has plans for the preservation of heritage sites in the country.
Mohammad Rasool Bawari, acting minister of the MoIC, said Afghanistan has at least 5000 historic sites and artifacts. “Out of these historical sites 1460 are registered and more than 800 of such sites are introduced as historical”, added Bawari.
According to the acting minister of the Ministry, currently 58 historic sites are under reconstruction.
The authorities said preservation of the historic monuments and sites is the duty of every citizen of the country. The authorities urged citizens to help the Ministry’s preservation drive of the country’s historical heritage.
At the end of the ceremony, the Ministry of Information and Culture (MoIC) signed memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development and the Ministry of Urban Development Affairs and Housing for the preservation and reconstruction of the historical sites and monuments.
