KABUL (SW): A number of Shinwari tribesman from eastern Nangarhar province held a protest demonstration in Kabul on Monday demanding peace and security.

Those who gathered at the Kabul’s Huzori Garden for the demo noted that the Shinwari tribe has borne the brunt of surging Daesh in eastern Afghanistan. Organizers asserted that this tribe has villages scattered along 215 kilometer long border with Pakistan and has never allowed Pakistani security forces to establish posts along the border.

They demanded the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) to establish security check posts in their areas in a bid to improve security.  The protesters also urged upon the government to support and help relocate internally displaced families from Nangarhar’s restive districts.

The protestors also blamed Governor of Nangarhar for running a racket of likeminded individuals and not addressing people’s concerns.

Attaullah Khogyani, the Governor however, discarded the allegations and instead charged the protesters for striving for their own personal gains. In a telephonic conversation with Salam Watandar, the Governor asserted that he always strives for peace and stability in the province.

Arif Shinwari, a protester in the demo at Kabul’s Huzori Gardens told Salam Watandar the fighting in their areas has displaced some 40 thousand families.

He noted that situation was unbearable in Achin, Kot, Nazian, Spingar and Haska Mena districts.

It is vital to note that Daesh has gained strong influence over these areas for quite some time now.
