KABUL (SW) – The foreign minister Salahuddin Rabbani and two presidential advisers are among those fined by the electoral commission over violation of rules.
As per the Independent Election Complaint Commission, Salahuddin Rabbani and two presidential advisers, Shah Husain Murtazavi, Abdul Rahimi Azizi and the Kabul University Chancellor Hameedullah Faruqi are among those fined for violation of election rules.
Murtazavi and Azizi have been charged a fine of AFN 15,000 and barred from voting over allegations of campaigning for State Builder election team of the President Ashraf Ghani. The KU Chancellor has been fined for AFN 10,000.
Based on the election rules, no public employee can campaign for any candidate in official capacity.
There has been no immediate response from those fined by the IECC.
Murtazavi told Salam Watandar few days back that any potential voter has a right to express his views.
President Ashraf Ghani has already issued a decree barring public employees from campaigning for any candidate.
