LASHKARGAH (SW): Abdul Majid Akhundzada, Deputy for Helmand Provisional Council, has claimed that the Taliban aim to bring their Quetta Shura to Mosa Qala district.
Quoting the residents from Helmand’s Sangin, Noorzad and Mosa Qala districts, Akhundzada said that currently a number of top Taliban commanders of the Quetta Shura have settled in the northern districts but have not yet officially announced their presence.
According to Akhundzada, if the government did not stop Taliban’s activities, it would get too late to dismantle their network in these areas. He added that it has been months since Pakistani militant commanders lead the Taliban militants and their dead bodies prove their presence in the fighting.
Meanwhile, Mohen Faqiri, Commander of the Afghan National Army (ANA)’s 216-Maiwand Corps, told Salam Watandar that the security forces have thwarted the militants’ activities in the province.
He said that the forces have launched effective military operations in a number of areas. He added that such operations would continue and the security forces would not allow the Taliban here.
