Quacks mar health sector in Ghor

15/10/2017

CHAGCHARAN (SW): Most pharmacies in Ghor province have non-professional people and in some cases even children operating as pharmacists.

In conversation with Salam Watandar, Ghour residents said that administration of medicine by these people have often complicated the situation of patients. They urged the government to replace these quacks with true professionals in line with the rules and regulations outlined by the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) for this purpose.

Abdul Hameed Nateqi, a member of the Ghor Provincial Council, while criticizing the standard of health service in the province, said that a number of people who work in health centres in Firooz Koh and other districts of Ghor province have no professional training. According to him, sometimes these non-professional pharmacists act as physicians and prescribe medicine to patients.

Abdul Latif Rahimi, the interim head of the health department of Ghor, has confirmed these reports. He acknowledged that a number of such incidents have occurred here. Rahimi vowed efforts have been made against the presence of non-professional and minors at pharmacies.

According to the interim head of the health department, there are only four professional pharmacists in the city of Firoozkooh. According to the statistics, there are 95 registered pharmacies in the province.

Ghor residents informed that a woman died and another one is still facing helath complications due to surgeries performed on them by quacks.
