BRUSSELS (SW): The annual NATO’s ministers of defense meeting ended today at the headquarters of NATO in Brussels.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, in response to a question from Salam Watandar journalist in regards to Qatar’s cooperation with the Resolute Support in Afghanistan, said that Qatar and the United Arab Emirates are seeking to contribute to Resolute Support and be part of this mission in Afghanistan.
The Secretary General of NATO did not want to elaborate on the Qatar and UAE’s participation in Resolute Support. However, at the end of the two-day minster of defense meeting, Mr. Stoltenberg announced that the mission of NATO will continue in Afghanistan.
According to the NATO Secretary General, the number of NATO troops will increase from 13,000 to 16,000 and this organization will support the Afghan government in fulfillment of the financial needs of the national security forces and to bring reform, as well as to engage Pakistan to cooperate in efforts to bring peace to Afghanistan.
NATO Secretary General also emphasized the Afghan-led peace talks at the meeting.
