KABUL (SW) – The fifth death anniversary of the former vice president, Mohammad Qaseem Fahem, was celebrated here on Saturday.
A number of top government officials and leading political figures shared their views about the peace process on this occasion.
Former vice president, Mohammad Yonus Qanoni, said on the occasion the ‘circle of resistance’ should come up with a comprehensive and uniformed strategy for peace, and identify red lines in this connection. He said the Taliban seen this ‘circle of resistance’ as their competitor therefor a uniformed strategy for peace should be formed taking into consideration the Constitution, gains of the past years and national unity.
Senior former Jihadi leader, Abdul Rab Rasul Sayaf, said on his term there is a need for sustainable peace in the country. He stressed upon safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country. He said a peace deal can only prove sustainable if the entire nation and the government strive together to achieve it.
Meanwhile, Karim Khalili, head of the High Peace Council, suggested the entire nation longs for peace, and collective efforts are needed to come out of this crisis situation successfully.
Marshal Mohammad Qaseem Faheem died of chronic illness five years ago at the age of 56.
