KABUL (SW): Protest demonstrations were held in various parts of the country to denounce Wednesday brutal truck bombing in the capital Kabul that has claimed up to 90 lives.

Members of the general public and civil society organizations urged the government and the international community to act beyond just condemning such atrocities. Participants of a demonstration in Kabul demanded the government to award stern punishment to those behind such attacks. They were chanting slogans like ‘Death to the Taliban, Death upon Daesh, Death upon their supporters”.

Syed Salam, a civil society activist, told the gathering people must raise their voice against such barbaric acts of terrorism, and the government must act to prevent it from recurring. “The government is saying the Haqqani Network is behind this attack, the first thing it should do is to execute Anas Haqqani who is in custody of the government”, he stressed.

Similar demonstrations took place in Nangarhar, Heart, Balkh, Paktia, Kandahar and many other parts of the country.
