KABUL (SW): A new study by the Peace, Media, Good Governance Institute (PMGGI) has concluded that an overwhelming majority of the citizens acknowledge protest as a key civic right.
Sharing findings of the survey, the PMGGI Vice President Hameed Akbar said on Wednesday that 76 per cent of their responders expected much better behavior from the National Unity Government (NUG) in the wake of last month’s protests in Kabul. The aim of this survey is to help streamline and pave way for better management of protest demonstrations in future.
The PMGGI survey is based on up to 500 interviews with people from diverse background in the capital Kabul.
PMGGI Vice President Hameed Akbar said citizens disapprove violent and extremist behavior of the protesters as well as the government. Last month, a protest rally in Kabul turned violent when protesters and police engaged in clashes leaving at least six people killed.
