Protestors take streets in Ghor and Herat after the fall of Taywara district

CHIGHCHIRAN (SW): Hundreds of residents of Ghor province poured to the streets on Monday protesting the recent fall of the Taywara district to the Taliban.

The protesters called the killing of women and children at the Taywara hospital by the Taliban a war crime and they claimed that Iran and Hezb-i-Islami of Gulbuddin Hekmatyar are involved in the fall of the district.

According to the protesters, Iran is supporting Taliban in order to prevent the construction of Pozlich dam in Ghor and the destruction of Salma dam.

Fazl Haq Ehsan, the head provincial council, said that Iran is economically strong, having all the means to support the Taliban.

But, the Iranian Consulate in Herat, rejecting the claims of the head of Ghor’s provincial council and the protesters said that Iran and Afghanistan have cordial relations.

Residents of Ghor also gathered in front of Herat’s provincial administrative building where the protesters criticizing the government’s inability in providing security claimed that government's silence has resulted in the massacre of dozens of innocent lives in Taywara district by the Taliban.

The protesters in Herat also blamed the Iranian government for supporting the Taliban in the fall of the Taywara district. The protestor said that the Taliban are trying to take the Salma dam. They urged the government to pay serious attention to the security of Ghor.
