TALUQAN (SW): Protesters on Monday blocked the main road leading to Khwaja Bahauddin district in Takhar province.
The protestors blamed the government for not paying attention to the areas devastated by recent flash floods. The demonstration turned violent when protesters did not allow convoy of the Afghan National Army (ANA) pass through. At least four protesters got wounded in this while.
Later, the demonstrators set-up a protest camp on the road.
Basit and Zabihullah, two such protestors, said on the occasion the government’s apathy towards the needy people in flood affected areas has disheartened them.
Sunat Taimur, spokesman for the provincial governor, told Salam Watandar the protesters’ demands are just, and the provincial administration has dispatched a team to assess the losses.
The protestors are also demanding the proper construction of the Mawra-i-Kokcha road.
