KABUL (SW): Hundreds of protesters gathered in the capital Kabul on Friday to demonstrate against the ‘in-efficiency’ of the government.
The protestors marched from the Shahr-e-Naw Park to the “Qasr-e-Sapidar”, the office of the Chief Executive Officer. Chanting slogans against the leaders of the Government of National Unity, the protestors urged that if the leaders are unable to take care of its citizens, they should resign.
The protestors were, however, not allowed to precede towards the CEO office by the security forces hence they returned from the Zanbaq Square.
Speakers at the rally said that the Taliban are busy abducing passengers on regular basis but the leaders of the GNU, instead of quelling it, only rely on issuing statements of condemnation. They demanded the government to swiftly bring an end to the rampant abductions of the passengers by the Taliban on highways across the country.
The government was also pushed to ensure the safe release of those passengers still under the militants’ captivity. Calls were made to hold those officials accountable who failed to ensure highways remain secured. They warned the government of more protests if the situation prevailed.
