KABUL (SW) – Hundreds of protesters took to the streets in Kabul on Sunday to protest against the arrest of a local commander, Ali Pur.
There have been reports of clashes between the police and the protesters in the western parts of the city with reports of injuries on both sides.
The protesters in Kabul as well as in Bamyan are demanding the government to release Ali Pur. Earlier this year, the security forces wished to arrest him in Ghor, but failed. At least 7 civilians got killed in that operation.
The local commander has been active in Jalrez district of Maidan Wardak province, and has claimed to have ensured peace on the highways in central parts of the country.
