MAIMANA (SW) – Protest demonstration by supporters of the arrested commander of the local militia, Nezamuddin Qaisari, on Wednesday turned violent in Faryab province.
Salam Watandar reporter has informed that a protester died in alleged firing by the security forces in Maimana city, which resulted in the protesters torching the compound of the provincial administration. Dr. Ahmad Zia, head of the emergency ward at the public hospital, has confirmed one person got killed and 6 people got wounded in these clashes.
The number of angry protesters is on the rise.
Qaisari, a commander of the local uprising militia and interim police chief for the Qaisar district in Faryab province, was taken into custody by the security forces following a troubled security meeting in Maimana, provincial capital, on Tuesday, and moved to Kabul.
The Ministry of Defense, has made it clear legal procedures would be completed in the case of Qaisari. Mohammad Radmanesh, spokesman for the MoD, said enough security forces are stationed in Faryab to ensure peace and security.
The Afghanistan Salvation Alliance has warned to boycott the forthcoming elections if a commander of the local uprising militia is not freed by the security forces.
