JALALABAD (SW) – Hundreds of Stability and Partnership electoral team supporters led by Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah gathered in Jalalabad on Monday against alleged vote fraud.
Abdul Zaher Qadeer, former member of the Wolesi Jirga (lower house), said while addressing the moot that the government should not interfere with the electoral affairs. He stressed the election commission should announce the fair results defying all sorts of pressures.
He warned the government would be responsible for the crisis emerging from the electoral process.
The protestors chanted slogans against vote-riggers.
Similar protest demonstrations have been staged in Kabul, Badakhshan, Baghlan and Panjshir provinces.
The Stability and Partnership team claims the election commission has failed to address their concerns in regard to the alleged fraudulent 300,000 votes.
However, last week, Abdullah allowed his supporters to let the election commission go ahead with the vote recount in the seven provinces where Stability and Partnership previously closed down the commission’s offices.
