KABUL (SW): A pioneering project to install solar power panels on public sector offices was launched here on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Amanullah Ghalib, chief executive officer of the De Afghanistan Breshna Shirkat (DABS), said this project would meet energy demands for up to 120 kW per hour. He added soon, all public offices in the capital Kabul would be equipped with the solar power panels.
The DABS chief executive officer further said residential consumers can also obtain solar power panels on three-year easy installments.
Owner of the Bakhtar Solar Company, Kabul Khan Tadbeer, said in his remarks such public-private partnership ventures can help resolve the energy crisis, and end reliance on imported electricity in the country.
The project worth some $ 30,000 is supported by the German development organization GIZ, and it would use Indian technology.
