KABUL (SW): The Capital Region Independent Development Authority (CRIDA) has started working on cleaning and reconstruction of the sidewalls for the Kabul River from Artal Bridge to Abdul Haq square in the city.

Ilham Hotaki, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the CRIDA, told journalists at the launch of the project that up to AFN 89 million would be spent on this project. He stressed that the Shah Toot dam should be developed in a bid to ensure constant flow of water and cleanliness in the Kabul River. He maintained this is not a one-time project, but the cleanliness of the River would be assured permanently.

The CRIDA officials said on the occasion that job and business opportunities would be created for citizens on the renovated and furnished parts along the River. Participants also urged Kabul residents to own the city, and keep it clean and green.
