Pro-Daesh rebels seen organizing themselves in Logar

PUL-I-ALAM (SW): Locals in the south eastern Logar’s Azara district believe the pro-Daesh rebels are busy setting up recruitment center in this part of the province.

Abdulwali Wakil, member of the provincial council, told Salam Watandar that as many as 70 youngsters from the very district have joined the pro-Daesh rebels and are busy fighting alongside them in the eastern Nangarhar’s Achin and Hisarak districts. He added that the locals have seen Daesh’s black flag being hoisted in the district’s Spando Kach area, sparking fears all over the district.

This native provincial council member went on to say that the pro-Daesh fighters are busy setting up a recruitment center. Wakil noted that the local Taliban might also join hands with the pro-Daesh fighters. He however, expressed confident the local community would not allow the rebels to do so.

Meanwhile, Saleem Saleh, spokesman for the provincial governor, discarded the reports about Daesh’s presence in the district. He told Salam Watandar that some foreign fighters did arrive in the province’s Kharwar district but the Afghan Special Forces eliminated those rebels then and there.

Commenting on the situation in Logar, Assadullah Falah, Presidential Advisor, said that though local and foreign rebels remain present in the province but the overall law and order situation has improved recently. He stressed that the locals’ help and assistance towards the government forces is pivotal in this regard.
