JALALABAD (SW): Local officials in eastern Nangarhar province have said that the pro-Daesh rebels have killed eight civilians including women and children in the province’s Kot district.
Attaullah Khogyani, spokesman for the provincial governor told Salam Watandar that the militants have also taken away as many as 30 civilians with them. A number of abducted people have been liberated by the security forces, he added. He went on to say that the pro-Daesh rebels have torched 23 homes in the Kot district inflicted heavy financial toll upon the locals.
As per his information, fighting in Kot has stopped.
It is said that the security forces are targeting the militants’ hideouts. According to the spokesman, the ground and air operations by the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) in Kot district have eliminated 37 pro-Daesh rebels and 30 more have been wounded. Khogyani added that two ANSF men have lost lives and three more are wounded in these offensives.
Separately, a statement issued by the 201-Sailab Corps has announced the elimination of 10 more rebels in the Achin district. It has noted that the rebels were killed in a US drone strike that targeted the militants’ hideouts in the Karkani area of the district.
The Daesh militants have not commented on the developments.
