JALALABAD (SW): Haji Ghalib, Head of Achin district in Nangarhar province has said that the pro-Daesh rebels have built six new prisons in the remote “Gharany " area of the district where up to 300 civilians have been kept.
Ghalib told Salam Watandar that the prisons have been made in Pashi, Abdulkhil, Bander, Momand, Shadl and Takht towns of Gharany district. Before this, Daesh built three prisons in Takht town five months ago where up to one hundreds civilians were kept. Locals in this district informed that Daesh have arrested some of the elders in this district and took them away to unknown place.
“Many people are missing in this district, it is widely believed they are in Daesh prisons”, a local told Salam Watandar. Achin’s district chief further said that most parts of the district are under the influence of Daesh. He added that a number of joint security operations against the militants have failed to flush the rebels out.
In the meantime, the Afghan National Security Forces conducted wide scale clean-up operations in various parts of the province. According to officials, more than 50 pro-Daesh rebels were killed in these offensives.
Ayoub Husain Khail, Chief of 301-Afghan Border Force (ABF) in the eastern zone told journalists on Tuesday that these militants were killed in various parts of Achin district. He also claimed that a top Daesh commander was among the dead.
