SHEBERGHAN (SW): Pro-Daesh militants have been blamed for killing three civilians, wounding five children and abducting two young boys in Jawzjan province’s Darzab district.
Carrying the dead bodies, residents of the affected area held a protest demonstration in front of the provincial governor’s compound on Wednesday. They said the militants have torched hundreds of homes, and have forced many locals to flee. The locals asserted that the clean-up operations by the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) have proven worthless in eliminating terrorists from the province.
Abdul Rahman Mehmoodi, provincial governor, has said security teams were sent to the area immediately after the news about the incident was received, but by the time they reached there the militants had escaped. He added investigations into the incident have been ordered, and clean-up operation in the area is in sight.
This is the first time pro-Daesh rebels have been blamed for a terrorist act in Jawzjan province. This group has not commented in this regard so far.
