SHEBERGHAN (SW): Pro-Daesh rebels have stormed a number of security check posts in Darz Aab district of Jawzjan province, officials said on Monday.
Baaz Mohammad Dilawar, interim-governor for the district, told Salam Watandar up to 95 security personnel are under the siege of the Taliban. He said only the district police headquarters and the administrative buildings are under the government control while the rest of the city and 5 security check posts are under the siege of the militants.
Dilawar confirmed nine security officials have died and 13 pro-Daesh militants have been killed in clashes. He added three security officials and 15 militants are wounded. The interim governor went on to say up to 500 militants are waging war against the security forces.
Abdul Qahar Siraji, the district police chief has also expressed concerns over the prevailing security situation in the area. He confirmed two members of the Afghan Local Police (ALP) have died in clashes with the militants. The police chief claimed heavy losses have been inflicted upon the pro-Daesh rebels.
