KABUL (SW): The National Union of Afghanistan's Workers and Employees (NUAWE), a leading labor rights organization, has blamed the private sector for vehemently violating Labor Law in the country.
Maroof Qaderi, leader of the NUAWE, while addressing a gathering to mark the International Labor Day here on Tuesday, lamented that the Labor Law has been reviewed, but not introduced to the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) for approval. “Most organizations and private sector in the country are operating against the Labor Law”, lamented Qaderi.
The Union leader further said most of the job contracts are only bilateral, and are in drafted in foreign language, and most organizations misuse the youth based on such contracts.
A day earlier, the NUAWE urged the government to introduce the basic minimum wage law in the country. Qaderi said workers in Afghanistan are facing multiple problems, but the introduction of the basic minimum wage would help address many of their issues.
