JAWZJAN (SW): Local officials in Jawzjan informed of a twofold rise in prices of food items and public transportation’s fares in a number of districts in the province.
Toran Ismail, Police Chief of Darzab told Salam Watandar that only those families who have enough income could afford to purchase food items.
According to the reports, the price of a sack of flour was 1200 AFN, which has now driven up to 2500 AFN, the price of 20 liters of cooking oil has risen from 1200 AFN to 2000 AFN, and the public transportation’s fare has increased from 250 AFN to 1000 AFN.
Residents in Darzad said that the central and local governments have promised them many times to control the prices; however, they have done nothing in practice.
