KABUL (SW) – The Independent Election Complaint Commission has received around 1600 appeals in connection with the review process for the presidential polls.
Qutbuddin Roydad, a member of the IECC, has said some of these complaints are serious in nature. He added the IECC would review these appeals by the presidential candidates within the next 15 days.
Roydad added most of these appeals have been lodged by the electoral teams of ‘State Builder’, ‘Stability and Partnership’, and ‘Peace and Islamic Justice’. According to him, the IECC has disqualified votes at some 47 polling stations, of which 20 are in Kabul.
Earlier this week, IECC said it was working on strategy enabling the IEC to proceed with the recount of votes.
According to the IECC, the recount is needed at some 2938 polling stations in a number of provinces.
