GARDEZ (SW): President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Sunday inaugurated five mega development projects in Paktia province.
Speaking on the occasion, the President said work on importing electricity for this part of the country is completed, and soon 18,000 families in the provincial capital Gardez would have access to electricity. He also inaugurated newly built industrial park and the new compound for the police headquarters costing $ 45 million. The President promised to expedite work on Gardez – Zurmat highway costing AFN 580 million.
Shamim Katawazi, governor of Paktia, said the provincial administration is also working on 30 more development projects in the province.
An agreement inked between the Ministry of Urban Development Affairs (MoUDA) and the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) would ensure provision of housing units to the families of 3000 martyrs and teachers in Paktia.
The President is set to spend two days in the province to hold meetings with the locals over various matters.
