KABUL (SW) – President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Friday inaugurated a number of development projects during his trip to Daikundi province.
Shah Hussain Murtazawi, spokesman for the president, noted that the projects include a power-generating dam worth $ 4.5 million, solar power project worth $ 13.5 million, road construction in the Nili city worth AFN 430 million and power distribution project worth AFN 18 million.
Ali Akbar Natiqi, spokesman for the provincial governor, told Salam Watandar the president also met representatives of different segments of the society here.
Gherat Ali Jawahiri, a member of the provincial council, said the President has inaugurated projects that had been inaugurated prior to the establishment of the National Unity Government. He stressed the president should instead ensure security on the main highways, and grant development funds for the province in the next fiscal budget.
The power-generating Sokhtok Dam is set to produce 700 kilowatts of electricity while 5.5. megawatts more would be produced through the solar power project helping 140,000 families in the province access electricity.
