KABUL (SW): Two electricity power plants were scheduled to be inaugurated by Minister of Energy and Water, Mr. Ali Ahmad Osmani last week; however, Minister Osmani was stopped flying to Balkh at Hamid Karzai International airport by the order of the Presidential Palace. But now, President Ghani is expected to go to Balkh for the inauguration of these two projects.
A credible source who did not want to be named told Salam Watandar that the minister of energy and water was not allowed to travel to Balkh by an order issued by the Presidential Palace.
Minister Osmani was barred to attend the opening ceremony of the TAPI project, while, based on the majority view, the only successful minister and officially qualified to attend such a project was the minister of energy and water.
Previously, a source told Salam Watandar that President Ghani is seeking to bring the achievements of the Executive Director’s office under his name and weaken the CEO’s team.
The CEO’s office has refused to talk about this and Asif Ghafoori, the spokesperson for the MoEW also said that so far Minister Osmani has not been invited to travel to Balkh to attend the opening ceremony of the electricity projects.
President Ghani is scheduled to meet with security officials and victims of recent floods in the province, in addition to inaugurating the two electricity projects. But according to Munir Farhad, the spokesperson for the Governor of Balkh, the inaugurations of the two electricity projects in the Khalm and Marmal districts will be the priority of the president.
