President Ghani to watch Afghanistan face England

KABUL (SW) – President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani is set to leave for England on an official trip on Sunday that would also take him to World Cup match between Afghanistan and the host England.

Afghanistan is set to take on the favorite England on June 18 in Manchester for the ICC Cricket World Cup game. Based on the information obtained by Salam Watandar, President Ghani would get some time out from his official engagements with the British officials to see this game. He is likely to be flanked by the British Prime Minister Theresa May for it.

Chairman for the Afghanistan Cricket Board, Azizullah Fazli and former chairman Atif Mashal are also scheduled to accompany the President on this occasion. Ghani is also set to have a meeting with the Afghan team players that has so far lost all three initial matches.

Meanwhile, wicketkeeper batsman Shahzad Mohammad has clarified he is not part of this delegation. Shahzad has returned home after a knee injury, though he claims to be fit.

Afghanistan plays its fourth game against South Africa.
