BALKH (SW): In his fourth visit to Balkh province, President Ghani inaugurated the 220 KW sub-power stations in Khalm district in Balkh and Marmal electricity distribution network in Marmal district which has been built at a cost of 7.6 million Euros paid in grants by Germany.
With the opening of these two projects, more than 18,000 families will have access to electricity.
President Ghani thanked Gul Mohammad Khalmi, the Deputy Minister of Energy and Water and the head of the Breshna company for this, but did not mention the Minister of Energy and Water in his speech.
President Ghani also talked about the timely holding of elections for the Wolesi Jirga and district councils, and other issues related to the elections, as well as the need to provide support for the families affected by the recent floods in the province.
The 220 Kilowatts electricity sub-station was scheduled to be inaugurated by the Minister of Energy and Water, Ali Ahmad Osmani last week, however, the security forces at the Hamid Karzai airport blocked the Minister’s visit to Balkh. A credible source told Salam Watandar that President Ghani ordered the security forces at the airport to not allow the Minister of Energy and Water to fly to Balkh for the opening ceremony of the electricity projects.
