KANDAHAR (SW) – President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Wednesday inaugurated a number of development projects during his trip to Kandahar.
President Ghani renamed the Kandahar airport as Ahmad Shah Baba International Airport and later met with elders, local officials, security and military officials, officers and soldiers. The renaming of this airport was in line with the proposal of the Directorate General for Coordination of the Council of Ministers and the President's approval. He hoped the uplifting of the airport would help boost economy.
During the trip, the newly constructed airport road was named after the ‘Hero of Independence late General Abul Raziq’. Later, the President inaugurated a mega solar power plant. The project has a capacity to generate 30 megawatts of power and has been completed with a cost of $39 million from the private sector budget and Finance Ministry’s subsidy.
