President Ghani emphases on unity; ‘Support your security forces’

KABUL (SW): President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani addressing mourners of Ashura, the 10th day of Muharram of the Islamic calendar, here in Kabul on Sunday, encouraged learning from the Karbala incident the people should support the security forces.

President Ghani state that fundamentalism ends in war and Islam does not support it.

Addressing the crowd at the Imam Zaman mosque he added that the people of Afghanistan believe in religious moderation and do not accept any extreme actions that cause divisions among the people.

He added that Afghanistan is an example religious plurality and despite the enemy’s effort, no chasm is evident among the people.

Karim Khalili, the chairman of High Peace Council, on the occasion also said that by following Imam Hussein, the people of the Afghanistan should not lose their unity and allow the enemies to triumph.

He called the Afghanistan conflict as ‘imposed war’ and added that the country is at war with terrorism much more than other countries.

He added that the victims of the war are the people of Afghanistan and the leaders of the country will allow Afghanistan to have the fate of Syria.

The talks of the unity of religious sects come as attacks on Shiite mosques have increased in the country. In a recent incident on Friday, a Shiite mosque was targeted in Qala-i-Fatullah area of Kabul. This is one of the recent attacks in the chain of attacks on Shiite religious and peaceful gatherings.
