President denounces Abdullah’s remarks

12/08/2016

KABUL (SW): The Presidential Palace (Arg) on Friday broke its silence over the unprecedented public criticism directed towards the President by the Chief Executive Officer a day earlier.

“Unfortunately, the remarks by respected Dr. Abdullah Abdullah yesterday were not in line with the norms of the governance and its spirit because the governance is based on legal principles and criteria, and is accordingly executed”, a statement from the Arg noted. It added that the country is passing through critical juncture during which the political leadership, government officials, religious leaders, tribal leaders and countrymen should ensure unity.

The operations of the Government of National Unity would carry on as usual, and soon serious and effective debates would commence, it said.

A day earlier, Abdullah spoke his heart out while addressing a group of youngsters at his office in connection with the World Youth Day. “Mr. President, you have been unable to find time out to meet with your CEO in the last three months, what is keeping you busy”, he questioned. Abdullah went on to say that ‘someone who does not have patience to engage in dialogue on a number of issues does not qualify for the presidency either’.
