SHEBERGHAN (SW): A number of religious scholars in Jawzjan province have expressed their deep concerns over widespread preaching of religious extremism in the province.
These scholars believe that extremism is being preached in almost 45 religious seminaries in the province. They feared that insecurity would prevail if the government did not take action to curb such activities.
Mawlawi Yar Mohammad, a member of the Jawzjan Ulema Council, stated that the extremist preachers indoctrinate the youth who have little knowledge about the true religious teachings. He added that the extremist groups have penetrated into the universities.
Mawlawi Esmathullah, another religious scholar in Jawzjan province, while expressing his deep concerns over the matter stated that the extremist groups disseminate are spreading their ideology in the public offices as well. He underlined that the extremist groups are brainwashing the younger generation.
Mohammad Nabi Ayubi, an advisor on religious affairs for the First Vice President, warned that insecurity would prevail in Jawzjan province if such activities are not curbed. He asked the security agencies to stop such activities.
In the meantime, Rahmatullah Turkistani, the police chief in Jawzjan province, noted that police in coordination with the National Directorate of Security (NDS) have launched investigation into this issue, but so far, no clue has been found in this regard.
